Florida DUI Insurance – FR44 Insurance Laws
First offense – Usually results in a 180 day revocation of your license. If a serious injury was sustained during the accident your license may be revoked for up to 3 years. Typically you can apply for a hardship license to get to school, work and church. If you were convicted of a DUI after October 1, 2007 you must provide proof FR44 insurance in the amount of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident and $50,000 property damage coverage. Second offense – If not within 5 years of your prior conviction may result in 180 day to 1 year revocation of your license usually you cannot apply for a hardship. If you are convicted of a second DUI within five years of your prior conviction your license may be suspended for 5 years. If you have been convicted of a second DUI you most likely will be required to have a interlocking device.
